It can be difficult to identify your nature finds as so many websites out there are not reliable. I have written down three different ways to identify your nature finds.

Note: Some natural items can be poisonous so make sure that you know exactly what it is before you pick it up.

Websites

It can be hard to find a good website or app to use so here are my suggestions:

  • Rock finder (app, identify fossils and crystals)

  • Woodland Trust (website, identify trees)

  • Wildlife Trust (website, identify wildlife)

  • Flora Incognito (app, identify plants)

  • Use my online bird encyclopidia (its small at the moment) on the resources page

Something Similar

Have you seen this item before or something similar. If it is a plant you can think of or you have found something similar before and then look up what family that thing is in. Then type in the plant family name and see what comes up.

Search For It

You can search for it (via a search engine) and then look at all the photos that come up. If most if them look the same to the item you have found then it is, most likley, that thing.
