To help nature you need to spend time with it, a little bit like how you need to bond with a pet. Nature is a wonderful and inspiring thing that can help cure illnesses and even help us to breath. So here are 3 things that you can do to enjoy and appreciate the world around you:

Number 1: Go For A Walk

Walking is not only a good way to exercise but also a way of spending time in nature. Going for a walk in the countryside when possible is a good way to connect with nature. If the countryside is not within a short walking distance you can always get the bus or drive (although driving is bad for the environment). Instead you could try just to walk around your local area, if you look close enough you may spot things you haven't seen before. Another alternative is to walk around your garden (if you have one) and try to see how many plants, animals and insects you can spot.

Number 2: Go Bird Watching

Even in the biggest cities there will be birds. All you need for this is your eyes, you don't need binoculars to see birds, if you look close enough you will be able to see different features that will show you what bird you are looking at. If you listen close enough you can even recognise the different bird calls. You can download apps onto phones and tablets that will help you identify bird song. If you are really into bird watching and you don't already have binoculars, buying some would be a good idea, but you don't have to!

Number 3: Make Something

If you cannot find any birds you can use an old plastic bottle and make it into a bird feeder to attract birds to your garden or area! You can also make lots of other things, like in the Autumn you could make a picture out of the dead leaves that have fallen off the trees! You could make a house for hedgehogs out of wood so they can shelter in it. You could also get a recipe for fat balls and put them in your garden or in a bird feeder.
